Introduction
The Noviomagus Femoral Head Reamer Set has been developed to remove cartilage and sclerotic bone from the femoral head before milling it with a bone mill. Cartilage and sclerotic bone should be removed, as research shows that cartilage and sclerotic bone parts do not incorporate, which can negatively influence the stability of an implant [see: "Incorporation of morsellized bone grafts: a study of 24 acetabular biopsy specimens"; S. van der Donk, P. Buma, T.J.J.H Slooff, J.W.M. Gardeniers, B.W. Schreurs; Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research 396:131-141, 2002].

Noviomagus inverted reamers
By means of the inverted reamers, the cartilage and sclerotic bone can easily be removed from the femoral head. Removing cartilage and sclerotic bone with this device is much easier and saves time, because the bone graft that is subsequently produced with the bone mill is immediately ready for use. No particles need to be removed.

The Noviomagus inverted reamers are made of a hardened stainless steel alloy and therefore guarantee a long life span without metal wear. The reamers can both be used with an AO-coupling and a Jacobs claw.

Noviomagus bone vice
To ream the femoral head it needs to be fixated. The Noviomagus bone vice has been developed for this purpose.

Some characteristics:
- Any size of femoral head will be firmly fixated in the bone vice;
- The device can easily be assembled and disassembled, which is ideal for cleaning and sterilization;
- The bone vice is a very stable device because of the low centre of gravity;
- A splash shield (see brochure) prevents particles from splashing away;
- A notch in the bottom plate of the bone vice enables easy cutting of the femoral head in two parts.
